Tips for gathering evidence to demonstrate your skills

The important thing to remember when gathering evidence is that the more evidence the better - that is, the more evidence you gather to demonstrate your skills, the more confident an assessor can be that you have learned the skills not just at one point in time, but are continuing to apply and develop those skills (as opposed to just learning for the test!). Furthermore, one piece of evidence that you collect will not usualy demonstrate all the required criteria for a unit of competency, whereas multiple overlapping pieces of evidence will usually do the trick!

ICTPRG518 - Monitor the system pilot

What evidence can you provide to prove your understanding of each of the following citeria?

Monitor the implementation of the pilot system

  1. Review the pilot and the support documentation
  2. Identify the pilot and system procedures
  3. Supervise system functionality and integrity tests
  4. Document the findings
  5. Provide technical support, as required

Evaluate the pilot system

  1. Review pilot operation against pilot objectives, and success criteria
  2. Review client and executive feedback on the pilot, against the acceptance criteria
  3. Identify and areas of success, and those needing improvement
  4. Prioritise, implement and assess, the impact of required improvements
  5. Document the review process and submit to the appropriate person

Evidence of the ability to:

review documentation to identify pilot objectives, client requirements and relevant procedures

observe and support testing and document findings

evaluate the pilot's success using acceptance criteria and stakeholder feedback

document the evaluation process, including successes, improvements and impact of changes.

Note: If a specific volume or frequency is not stated, then evidence must be provided at least once.

To complete the unit requirements safely and effectively, the individual must:

describe the current industry-accepted system of piloting methodologies including their general features and capabilities, with particular emphasis on acceptance criteria

describe current industry system development and design methodologies

explain three or more current industry information-gathering methodologies

outline the role of stakeholders and the degree of stakeholder involvement

describe the system's current functionality, with a specific emphasis on:

system integration

system response and recovery times

user interfaces

the validation of inputs and outputs.
